We live in uncertain and largely unsafe times. Given recent tragic events in the U.K. we can’t help but question what measures we can put in place to protect ourselves and our families, not just while we go about our day to day lives, but whilst in our family home too.
There are the obvious deterrents to intruders and other security measures that we can put in place on our property, such as burglar alarms, CCTV cameras, security lighting, additional locks on windows and doors etc. and these are all potentially effective in their own right, making our property a less inviting target. Imagine though, adding an extra member to your family who not only brings love and obedience but also guardianship and protection over not just the property but also to protect family members who may be put at risk in the instance of a break in.
Enter the world of family protection dogs; highly trained in obedience and protection, these super pets double as the kids playmates and family companions whilst providing an effective counter measure against some of the modern day threats such as aggravated burglary, assaults and carjacking which are unfortunately increasing in both numbers and frequency.
Family protection dogs can also be known as personal protection dogs, family guard dogs and K9s, just to name a few. A1K9 is the oldest and most respected company in the UK for supplying the very best in professionally trained protection dogs and CAN legitimately and verifiably claim to be the leading family protection dog company, having supplied over a thousand of these highly trained A1K9s over the last 20 plus years to clients worldwide.
These are not just any old dogs!
They are highly trained canine companions that we source from top breeders (mostly in Europe) as young adults, health tested, evaluated, and thoroughly temperament tested before embarking on 12 months plus of extensive professional training by A1K9’s specialist training team. The foundation of the training provided is obedience, ensuring that the dog will remain under full and proper control at all times; after all, power is nothing without control. The protection training is very much geared to the future owners’ requirements and can be tweaked, teaching the dog additional skills when necessary.
When it comes to family protection dogs – One size does not fit all!
When it comes to family protection dogs, one size definitely does not fit all, which is why A1K9 always has a choice of between 25 and 40 dogs in training at any one time, to ensure that having understood your requirement of a protection dog and having advised on different aspects of owning one of the highly trained dogs, they are able to put forward a selection of candidates, knowing that those suggested will integrate seamlessly with the new family whilst providing an adequate level of protection.
It is important to note that during the 12 months plus of extensive training all A1K9 dogs are constantly being evaluated by their trainers who get to know those dogs in their charge very well indeed. The trainers are well placed having built a strong relationship with the dogs to give an informed opinion as to the type of homes that would best suit a dog that they are training, as well as knowing an individual dog’s strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Knowledge like this is invaluable when looking to team up a protection dog with a prospective client and is gleaned through working with the dogs on a daily basis over a long training period of time.
Think super pet trained in martial arts
Rest assured though, that despite the intensive training, these dogs are firstly loving, family pets and companions, whose training enables them to respond effectively to any threat, in a measured, controlled and effective manner. Once the threat has moved off or been neutralised, or when given an appropriate command, the dog then reverts back to fun loving pet mode, hard to believe but true. These are the ultimate family pets with the added bonus of being trained to protect you and your loved ones and your property.
Not all that glistens is gold – please do your due diligence
With the internet being a great place for people to indulge in their dreams and wishes and there are many companies and individuals either gilding the lily or just being plain dishonest, it is therefore imperative that you do your research to ensure that you are dealing with a bonafide, experienced trainer and supplier of quality well trained protection dogs as many who claim to be “leading suppliers” tend to be “misleading suppliers”.
